There is a lecture by Michael Arndt about what makes for an "insanely" great ending. And I think that dude knows what he's talking about, because Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3 both have pretty great endings. There are different websites summarizing what that lecture is actually about, but there is unfortunately no video of it anywhere. With some Google-fu I was able to track down the lecture script on some website for student notes after having to upload notes myself etc.
It's attached, hope it's helpful for you guys.
(If you enjoyed that, there is also this short video about beginnings by the same guy)

Thanks a lot! Here's Arndt's take on beginnings and setting the story into motion. I think it would only work for the scripts Ken Dancyger calls Restorative Three Act Structures, but Arndt's himself acknowledges that it doesn't work like that for every story. I just love the way he explains it—it's been really useful in my scriptwriting classes.

Does anyone have access to notes/recording of Arndt's Toronto FF lecture on structure? There are several posts online summarizing it, but I'd like to get the actual info. He talks about structuring a whole script from beginning to end, not just Act I and Act III.

Michael Arndt presented the full video (more than an hour long) and spoke afterward at WGA east last week. Did anyone happen to get any audio recording on their iphone?
